We each have a narrative of ourselves. Sometimes the narrative we hold is one that has been given to us by parents, teachers, friends, society; a narrative that we continue to keep as our truth. The power of the narrative is that each time we retell it, the narrative becomes etched into the brain and defines who we are. We can become complacent, stuck, afraid to move forward in life, fearful of changing the narrative, and fearful of the unknown.

Rarely is change easy, and frequently it is the last option we choose because it requires courage and strength, which during difficult times may feel insurmountable. I would like to offer you my perspective on courage, change and transformation; I believe they are small movements forward when you feel like you can’t move at all. That movement can be as little as being open to the idea of change, which can lead to a willingness to do something different. Sometimes our progression forward is blocked by past experiences that live in the shadows and make it more difficult to forge a new path for ourselves. Therapy is a safe environment where we can explore the shadows together, shining a light into the darkness and softening the fears surrounding them.

I believe in the power of human connection and I would like to hold space for you to re-define your narrative as it makes sense to you in this moment. I believe that therapy is a collaborative process and while you are the expert in your life, I am here to provide support and feedback to help you find your path. Therapy is about the goals you have for yourself, discovering what works and what does not work for you, and then deciding how you want to move forward. I am here to tell you, that you do not have to face the darkness alone.
